| Rocket Builders Announces that the "Ready to Rocket 25" Companies Outperform Industry Growth Rate in First Half of 2004 Progress Report On average, selected companies more than double industry growth rate with some exceeding 300% growth VANCOUVER, BC - September 13, 2004 - Rocket Builders has released its half-year progress report on the 2004 "Ready to Rocket 25" list. The "Ready to Rocket 25" list named twenty-five B.C. companies in January 2004 who were best positioned to capitalize on the information technology (I.T.) trends that would contribute to faster growth than the I.T. sector as a whole. Industry analysts, including IDC, Gartner Group and Forrester Research, have observed between 4% and 6% growth in I.T. spending in the first half of 2004. The majority of the 25 companies on this list are achieving double digit growth, validating the premise of the January forecast that companies on this list would outperform the industry average. As well, two of the companies (OctigaBay and Telos Technology) were acquired. Without considering the two acquisitions, of the 23 companies: - 21 (>90%) of the companies beat the industry growth rate - 15 (>65%) of the companies more than doubled the industry growth rate - 8 (>34%) of the companies more than quadrupled the industry growth rate The growth rates of these private companies are impressive when you consider that very few technology-focused investment funds achieved a positive return in the same time period and that the Nasdaq Stock Market's composite index was negative for the same time period (according to Morningstar.ca). "Despite poor performance by technology in the public markets, B.C. has some private technology companies that are strong performers," said Reg Nordman, a Managing Partner at Rocket Builders. "The future for these companies looks very bright, and we expect these companies will be attracting more investment and offers to be acquired." Rocket Builders' "I.T. Outlook for 2004", the basis of selection to the "Ready to Rocket" list, examined the top market market drivers for growth. Based on the top performers in the first half of 2004, it appears that wireless, voice-over-IP, and data/application integration were the most significant trends driving revenue. Also, hosted solutions offerings and the ability to leverage large vendors such as Microsoft were significant predictors of growth. "Although it was exciting for us to observe significant growth among almost all of the 'Ready to Rocket' companies" said Geoffrey Hansen, a Managing Partner with Rocket Builders. "We were especially impressed that so many companies were able to exceed 25% growth in revenue. In particular, New Heights, Flowfinity and GaleForce Solutions were the companies that best exemplified leveraging a number of the trends we identified." The progress report on these 25 companies was based on interviews of the top executives and analysis of public information available on the companies.
