Rocket Builders Announces 2005 "Ready to Rocket 25" List to Reveal Companies Positioned to Capitalize on Growth in Information Technology Sector

As analysts forecast moderate growth for the I.T. sector, Rocket Builders highlights hottest trends and names 25 private B.C. companies with high growth potential in 2005

VANCOUVER, BC - January 13, 2005 - Rocket Builders has released its second annual "Ready to Rocket 25" list along with its annual "I.T. Outlook" report. The "Ready to Rocket 25" list names twenty-five private B.C. companies who are best positioned to capitalize on the information technology (I.T.) trends that will contribute to faster growth than the I.T. sector as a whole.

"Analysts are predicting moderate growth for the next few years" said Reg Nordman, Managing Partner at Rocket Builders. "Most predict 6% growth in information technology spending in North America. The mid-market and overseas markets are growing faster than this. The biggest growth areas in the North American markets are in government, financial services, manufacturing and health care."

Today, Rocket Builders published its I.T. Outlook report for 2005. This report presents ten (10) themes of breakthrough opportunities for information technology companies to leverage to achieve better than average growth.  Examples of the key market opportunities are the importance of security, the influence of new regulations, the advances in wireless devices and networks, and the evolution of IP-based communications like Voice-over-IP.

"In our analysis, we observed that B.C. has a diverse mix of high growth technology companies that represent many of the important trend areas," said Dave Thomas, a Senior Partner at Rocket Builders. "B.C. continues to have technology leadership in many fronts of the I.T. industry."

Software companies are finding a need to specialize their offering to specific vertical industries.

"Of particular interest is the importance of vertical markets for the I.T. industry," said Geoffrey Hansen, the Managing Partner at Rocket Builders responsible for I.T. Outlook report. "The financial services and health science vertical markets are high growth verticals where B.C. has many companies with innovative information technology products."

The process of choosing the twenty-five companies for the "Ready to Rocket 25" list involved mapping over one hundred (100) technology companies against the key trends identified in the "I.T. Outlook 2005" report. Last year's "Ready to Rocket 25" list featured 21 companies who met or exceeded double-digit growth and 3 companies who were acquired, with the majority of the 25 companies receiving new financing in 2004.
